When You Feel You’re Lost…

There’s a time for happiness, a time for sadness and a time where we feel hopeless and don’t know what to do. When that time comes, it’s good to know and remember that we must seek God. While it is true that God sees everything especially our sufferings, He also wants us to be closer to Him. And one of the ways to get close to God is to seek Him.

When we’re happy, it is easy to give thanks and find the good in everything. But when there’s a sudden shift, a burden or when we feel distress, it’s hard to find even the little goodness in the blessings or in what we have. This is where discontentment sets in and destructive thoughts flourish in the mind.

We always focus on our careers and relationships. At times, many among us think that these things are what make us happy and complete. Most of the time, when we have a good job and a beautiful relationship, life is great. But if it’s otherwise, we think ourselves as a failure. Come to think of it, you didn’t fail. It is your thinking that failed you. Trials and setbacks will always be part of our lives, whether or not we have a job or someone special in our lives. Whether or not you have a business or you’ve reached  your dreams, if you don’t seek God, you would feel empty or there’ll be always something missing.

I’m not religious or prayerful but I put my hope in the Lord — in his unfailing love. I don’t have much money or I haven’t reached my dreams yet but I feel fulfilled. I am amazed that there’s no void in my heart even if I have failed myself, my relationship and other things. I just pray and ask God to make me seek Him whenever I am unsure of myself and when I feel I am useless. If we only remember and seek God first, we won’t be too consumed of our problems and trials. Because in the darkness, we will always find light if we delight in Him.

I hope that we learn to focus and delight ourselves in the Lord, rather than in our relationships, possessions and other worldly pursuits. Whenever we’re lost, let us seek and remember Him, always. 🙂

Take delight in the Lordand he will give you the desires of your heart. – Psalm 37:4

God, You Are My Rock!

When you think you’ve hit rock bottom, chances are, you’re losing your faith. When you lose your faith, there would be a tendency that you’d lose hope. But if we know God’s words, it will give us comfort that everything will be fine. Everything will fall into place and our faith in Him would sustain us for the days to come. Let us put our trust in the Lord because He will always be our rock and Father with everlasting love.

The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. – Psalm 18:2

Do Not Be Materialistic

It is great to have good things and some small luxuries in life. But, let us not forget the most important things and blessings that we already have: a good food and a cozy home, happy family and friends, healthy body and a productive life.

Also, we should focus on beautifying ourselves inwards rather than spending tons of money and time concerning our exteriors. Beauty fades but character remains.

So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. — 2 Corinthians 4:18

Let’s Have Faith

God, I may not understand how everything will work out but I trust you. I don’t see a way but I know you will make a way. I have faith at this very moment, you’re touching hearts, opening doors and lining up the right breaks and opportunities. Things may look dark and bleak now, but I have faith that my dawn is coming! In Jesus’ name. – Naeem Callaway

I find it hard to mindset especially if I am at my weakest. But remembering that we have a loving God, comforts me and makes me feel at ease. Sometimes, we just have to have more faith and trust in Him — just as He also trust in us that we can make it through, no matter what.

Can You Forgive?

It is human nature to sin. I am a sinner and so are you. We make faults and other people have wronged us — it is just inevitable. But, how hard it is to forgive and forget? I bet that we can forgive but not really forget. I am just human. We all are.  What happened has already happened and I cannot do anything about it but accept the fact that someone I love have wronged me and caused me misery.

I have learned that no matter how hard it is to forgive, we have to give in. If God can forgive, what more about us?

Think about it. Ponder. Forgive.

So watch yourselves. “If your brother or sister sins against you, rebuke them; and if they repent, forgive them.” – Luke 17:3

Never Compare Yourself to Others

I have encountered many people who compare their work to other people. These folks treat others as their predators or antagonists. Thus, they think everything they do  should be better than what others do. They treat everything as a competition and they work hard to win in order to take down their opponents. It is nice to win and compete if it is done in a better context — not the type where you would backstab and diss other people just to get your way to the top. That is just too dirty!

I also experienced an odd feat with my colleague when she flared up in front of me, telling me that her work is better. She got mad and even accused me that I was the core reason why other colleagues think bad of her when I am just doing my work. After that heated argument, she still compares her work with me and other colleagues, rather than just keep on working and improving her craft. I felt weird because as teammates, we should help and back each other up no matter what.

What I have learned from that incident is we should stop comparing. We should just continue to work well and take pride as we do better jobs. There is no sense to compare ourselves with other people because it will not help us get the job done. Comparing yourself would just make you feel bad or envious unless you are going to make it an inspiration to become a better person. As long as we do our jobs well, that is what matters most.

Pay careful attention to your own work, for then you will get the satisfaction of a job well done, and you won’t need to compare yourself to anyone else. – Galatians 6:4

You Are Not Alone

Oftentimes, we think that when no one agrees with us or when we have no one to talk to, we think or feel that we are alone. We may be literally alone but God is with us especially during the hard times of our lives. I used to think that way but I have managed a bit to correct my thinking when the feeling of loneliness sets in.

The journey of life can sometimes be very troubling. We often stumble and have difficulty following in God’s footsteps. Many times we feel alone in this large world. But we must never doubt God’s presence with us. God will never let us down. He promises his strength, his peace and his comfort. When it seems like life is whirling out of control, we can take comfort in God’s sovereignty and power. All we need to do is come to him with our seeking hearts and know that we can depend on him. – Margaret Fishback Powers

Learn to Perservere

I know that a lot of you have undergone trials of different intensities. There are also trials that would make you say, “Why are all these happening to me?” These times may be hard but we have to endure and persevere because no matter what happens, we will all get through it. Through these trials, we become more steadfast and will come out as stronger and resilient individuals.

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. – James 1: 2-4.

The Impatient Me

Sometimes I ask myself why all of these bad things are happening and why it all happened to me. There are times when I think life is unfair. Well, it just really is! But I never questioned God about these things because I know I will be able to surpass everything but I am just impatient. He is really teaching me a lesson – to be patient and to wait. I know God has lots of great rewards in store for us. Yeah, I admit it. I am one impatient bitch. – From the Bliss Steps Diaries

Worry or Trust God?

We all have problems and issues. This is a fact that will never ever be changed. I admit that these past few weeks, I am constantly worrying about myself, what I do and a lot more useless and nonsense stuff. But, it got me thinking. What do I get when I worry? Did it help me solve my problem? Did it help me become a productive person? The answer is a big NO!

Worrying can be healthy if it is done in moderation. Worrying always is definitely NOT. IMHO, I think it is like an insult to God. Why do we have to worry when He is there to rescue us? Why do we have to over analyze things when we know deep inside that everything will be fine soon? Can we just believe in HIM and let Him take the lead? I am not saying that we should be dependent on our prayers to God. What I am saying here is we could just trust God and believe that He will never leave us nor forsake us in our times of trouble.

I am not in good condition today but tomorrow will be better and that is for certain. I like this verse: God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. – Psalm 46
