There’s a time for happiness, a time for sadness and a time where we feel hopeless and don’t know what to do. When that time comes, it’s good to know and remember that we must seek God. While it is true that God sees everything especially our sufferings, He also wants us to be closer to Him. And one of the ways to get close to God is to seek Him.
When we’re happy, it is easy to give thanks and find the good in everything. But when there’s a sudden shift, a burden or when we feel distress, it’s hard to find even the little goodness in the blessings or in what we have. This is where discontentment sets in and destructive thoughts flourish in the mind.
We always focus on our careers and relationships. At times, many among us think that these things are what make us happy and complete. Most of the time, when we have a good job and a beautiful relationship, life is great. But if it’s otherwise, we think ourselves as a failure. Come to think of it, you didn’t fail. It is your thinking that failed you. Trials and setbacks will always be part of our lives, whether or not we have a job or someone special in our lives. Whether or not you have a business or you’ve reached your dreams, if you don’t seek God, you would feel empty or there’ll be always something missing.
I’m not religious or prayerful but I put my hope in the Lord — in his unfailing love. I don’t have much money or I haven’t reached my dreams yet but I feel fulfilled. I am amazed that there’s no void in my heart even if I have failed myself, my relationship and other things. I just pray and ask God to make me seek Him whenever I am unsure of myself and when I feel I am useless. If we only remember and seek God first, we won’t be too consumed of our problems and trials. Because in the darkness, we will always find light if we delight in Him.
I hope that we learn to focus and delight ourselves in the Lord, rather than in our relationships, possessions and other worldly pursuits. Whenever we’re lost, let us seek and remember Him, always. 🙂
Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. – Psalm 37:4
